Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been affected by the recent wildfires in Maui. Many have lost their homes, livelihood, family, friends, and community to this disaster. Where were you born and raised? I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Kauai. I reside in Kapaa on the East Side of the Island. What high school or college did you attend? I graduated from Kapaa High School in 2017 and also graduated from KCC with a Liberal Arts degree. What made you interested in the medical field? It was the good feeling of helping people. So, why not help people with their health?

This month, Dr. Punzal and Brity attended the American Optometric Association’s annual conference, known as Optometry’s Meeting. This year’s conference was held in Chicago.
About 20 years have gone by since Dr. Punzal had LASIK surgery. He has enjoyed freedom from glasses and contact lenses for a good amount of time, but he realized that his vision was not as sharp as it had once been.

Team Punzal Vision completed our 4th annual Ultimate Hawaiian Trail Run! With last year’s run being canceled due to COVID, we were extra excited for this year! We had no idea what to expect but of course, we took all the necessary precautions to ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone.

Since the COVID-19 vaccination has been available on the island of Kaua'i, we have proudly received both doses and are vaccinated! With the type of work and care we provide to our patients on a daily basis, right away we understood the importance of receiving this vaccine- not only for ourselves, but for our family members and island community.

COVID-19 has cancelled a lot of events this year, including the Haena to Hanalei run that we were looking forward to doing. Dr. Punzal and Brity decided to coordinate our own run.
Although the pandemic is not over, and our island community does not have the “all clear” just yet, we are headed in the right direction!

Another year, another Kaua’i Half Marathon! Not only did our entire Punzal Vision staff do 13.1 miles, we had a few new team members to represent us this year as well.
Within the past year, Dr. Punzal and Brity have a new profound love for Audible- a type of audio entertainment system for TV shows, newspapers, magazines, and books.
This weekend was Dr. Punzal’s birthday! As a small token of our appreciation for him, we had everyone on the team at Punzal Vision and some of his ʻOhana share with us their favorite things about Dr. Punzal.
This past Friday 04/26 and Saturday 04/27, Punzal Vision had the first ever Maui Jim Trunk Show ever on Kaua’i.
