What Polarized Sunglasses Actually Do

Punzal Vision offers a full selection of polarized sunglasses at our Hokulei Village location in Lihue, HI.

‍

You've seen or heard of the term “polarized" before, but what does it actually mean?

When sunlight bounces off of flat surfaces like water, roads, or the hood of your car it can create glare.

The harsh brightness of sunlight glare can make you squint and strain your eyes and lead to dangerous situations, especially while driving.

Polarized lenses have a built-in filter that helps to block reflected light, so you get:

  • Clearer vision with sharper contrast and colors
  • Less squinting and eye fatigue
  • Safer driving into the sun or near water that may reflect the light

Polarized lenses can be especially helpful for you in certain scenarios of your day-to-day life, including:

  • Driving, especially on bright mornings and evenings
  • Boating, fishing, and beach days
  • If your eyes are more sensitive to bright lights

Keep in mind that polarized doesn't automatically mean UV protection, so always look for lenses with 100% UVA/UVB protection.

Visit us at our Hokulei Village location to shop our full selection of designer eyewear and polarized sunglasses, and our friendly and professional staff will help you find the perfect pair!
