Vision changes can happen at any age, and are a natural occurrence!
This is why it is so important to make sure that you are regularly receiving checks on the health of your eyes and vision, and updating your prescription whenever changes occur in order to best support you.
If you notice changes that make it more difficult to read, see things in focus, or that cause discomfort or straining of the eyes, then it may be time to update your prescription!
Here are a few signs that it may be time to schedule an eye exam, and see if you need an update to your glasses prescription:
If you experience blurring or fuzziness of your vision, at any distance, this may mean that your vision has changed and it’s time to update your prescription.
If you struggle to read text in a book, signage while driving, or text on the screen of your computer or phone then you may benefit from an updated prescription to help support your vision. This is especially true, if you were recently able to read these same things, but have lost your ability to do so.
If you see doubles of a person or object in your field of view, this is a sign that your eyes are struggling to adjust and bring things into focus and your prescription may need to be updated.
Night driving can be difficult, especially when your vision is compromised. If you experience difficulty when trying to see things at night while driving, updating your prescription can support you in your ability to do so.
Our eyes are naturally sensitive to light, however if you experience greater difficulty seeing in bright daylight or an increased sensitivity to the glare of the sun or any bright light, an update to your glasses prescription may be required.
One of the common physical symptoms that indicates it may be time for a checkup and to possibly update your prescription, is the experience of frequent headaches or eye strain. This indicates that your eyes are having to work overtime to help you see people, objects, or text in your environment.
Other signs of physical strain include tiredness of the eyes after reading or spending time looking at screens, squinting to compensate for your vision, or even neck and shoulder pain that comes from straining your vision.
Adjusting the prescription of your glasses may help to reduce this strain and stress on your body and eyes and support your ability to see things clearly, with ease again.
If you find yourself struggling to see things clearly, daily tasks that use to be simple and easy are becoming more labored and difficult, or your performance at work or in your daily life is declining due to your vision, we recommend that you get your eyes examined and your prescription updated if necessary to help support you in your daily life!
