When to replace contact lenses?

When should I replace my contact lenses?

For all soft contact lens wearing patients, Dr. Punzal prefers and recommends the daily disposable lens which is meant to be worn once and thrown away at the end of the day. With this type of lens, it decreases the chance of infection and irritation. However, there are other replacement schedule options such as a bi-weekly lens or monthly lens. We highly advise you to follow the guidelines and replace the lenses after two weeks / 1 month.

Here are some symptoms you can experience by keeping your contact lenses longer than the recommended wear time:

1. Increase in itching and irritation

2. Dry, uncomfortable lenses

3. Protein build up on lenses causing blurry vision

4. Increased chance for lenses to tear / break

5. Infection
