One of our own Team Members at Punzal Vision, Lillianna Nishibata, recently took the trip to O‘ahu to get LASIK surgery! After returning from here LASIK procedure, just a few short weeks ago, she has already recovered and is loving the results of her new vision!

"I first started wearing glasses when I was 6-7 years old, and later started using contact lenses around the age of 12 years old. I was always interested in doing refractive surgery but I would always chicken out and say next time. It wasn't until my friend got it and said that it was the best thing ever. Here is what you should expect if you are considering LASIK as an option to improve your vision in the new year:

1. The first thing you will need to do is schedule a Comprehensive Eye Examination with Dr. Punzal at Punzal Vision, to see if you are a fit for LASIK Surgery. Dr. Punzal will test your visual acuity and determine the status of your eye health, to make a decision on the best course of action for you. If LASIK is something that is recommended for you, he will then send a referral to Dr. Faulkner at Aloha Laser Vision on O’ahu. Once you have scheduled your operation, we will then set you up with an addition Pre-operative appointment with Dr. Punzal to ensure that your measurements are all up to date and a file is prepared for Dr. Faulkner going into your LASIK procedure. 

2. Next, you will proceed to the actual LASIK Surgery procedure at Aloha Laser Vision. A quick 2-3 day trip to O‘ahu will give you enough time to comfortably prepare for the procedure, and rest after the procedure before traveling back home to Kaua’i. The procedure itself is quick and easy, and generally only takes a few minutes once all of the preparations have been made! The friendly and professional staff at Aloha Laser Vision will work in concert with Punzal Vision to make sure that all of your records are up to date and your LASIK Surgery experience is as flawless as possible!

3. Once you have undergone the LASIK procedure, you will return to Kaua’i where you will begin the process of healing. Within 2 Weeks, you will see Dr. Punzal at Punzal Vision for your Post-operative follow up exam to ensure that your eyes are healing properly. From there, we will set up regular check-ins after 3-4 weeks and 4-6 weeks, post operation, to ensure that your healing and eye function continue to perform as expected!
