Contact Lens Health Week 2023

Punzal Vision Contact Lenses

This week is the American Optometric Association's Contact Lens Health Week!

During this week we are highlighting the importance of proper care techniques and the maintenance and care of your contact lenses.

Our goal at Punzal Vision is to ensure that you have healthy eyes, clear vision, and that you are supported in all of your eye care needs.

Contact lens care

Here are our Top 5 Tips to making sure that you are taking care of your contact lenses:

1. Choose Daily Disposables: Whenever possible, opt for daily disposable contact lenses. These lenses are discarded after a single use, minimizing the risk of infections and irritations caused by long-term wear.

2. Avoid Overnight Wear: Refrain from sleeping in your contact lenses, unless they are specifically approved for extended or continuous wear. Overnight wear can lead to discomfort, dryness, and increased risk of infections.

3. Proper Cleaning and Hygiene: Practice thorough hand washing with soap and water before handling your contact lenses. Use recommended contact lens solution to clean and rinse your lenses, and avoid using tap water, as it can contain harmful microorganisms.

4. Replace Lens Cases Regularly: Change your contact lens case every 3 months, or as recommended by your eye care professional. Cleaning and storing lenses in a clean case helps prevent the buildup of bacteria and other contaminants.

5. Follow Replacement Schedule: Adhere to the replacement schedule provided by your eye care provider, whether it's daily, bi-weekly, or monthly. Using lenses beyond their recommended duration can lead to discomfort, reduced visual clarity, and an increased risk of eye problems.
