Punzal Vision attends Waimea Canyon Middle School Career Day!

On Wednesday, Waimea Canyon Middle School invited Punzal Vision to participate in their Career Day. Dr. Punzal, Brity, Pua, Lehua, Tianne, Karl, and Casey headed out west to speak to nearly 140 students who attended this year’s WCMS Career Day.

We enjoyed participating in the opportunity to share our different backgrounds and job descriptions to teach the middles schoolers about the various career paths in eye care. Dr. Punzal shared his educational journey, which included eight years of education following high school. The rest of us shared our pathways that led us to Punzal Vision, which include 2-year and 4-year college degrees, a Master’s degree, and certifications in Medical Assisting, Ophthalmology, Optometry, and Opticianry.

We kept the students engaged by playing a fun game of Jeopardy that incorporated eye care, careers in eye care, as well as the “GLO” (General Learner Outcome) that are promoted throughout the Department of Education.

The faculty and staff at Waimea Canyon Middle School generously provided us with delicious mid-morning refreshments and lunch. They even had lau lau, which is one of our favorites!

During those breaks, it was a pleasure to chat with other visiting Career Day professionals. The WCMS students were respectful, engaged, and eager to interact with us during our presentation.

Mahalo to WCMS for inviting us to your career day! We had a blast!
